BUILD-YOUR-OWN BAMBOO BIKE

The individualized Bamboo frame-building workshop is for enthusiasts wishing to build their own bamboo bike frame or create something unique with their own hands. These workshops will provide participants with the knowledge and skills using the Calfee Design D-I-Y method to build a bicycle frame on their own from scratch. 


Though the frame building class is intensive, no prior frame building experience is required. The curriculum is designed to guide participants through every step of the bike frame building process. At the end of the workshop, participants will be bringing home their own Bamboo Bike Frame that they can be proud of.
 
We will go over all aspects of bamboo bike frame building and breakdown the Stages of build:

  • Frame geometry basics

  • Using the Calfee frame jig and other tools; safety considerations- material preparation

  • Measuring and mitering

  • Tacking and reinforcing joints

  • Alignment check

  • Proper wrapping of joints

  • Weather sealing

  • Prepping for assembly

Regular Workshops

Build your own Bamboo Bike frame in three days with our scheduled workshops at the Bambu Hub based in Los Angeles. With a group of four, each participant will use the Calfee DIY Design Method to create their own individual bike frames.

Destination workshops

Bambu Hub offers exclusive workshops to interested participants throughout the year held at various destination locations around the U.S. and the Philippines. Spend 3-5 action-packed days learning to build your own frame directly from Bambu Hub’s professional mentors and experience a fun getaway at the same time.

Cebu

In collaboration with BRADLAB. This 4-day workshop includes all materials and instruction to build your own bamboo frame from scratch. Accommodations not included.
Price- $700.

 
Dumaguete

In collaboration with Kawayan Collective located in Dauin, Negros Oriental. This 4 day workshop includes all materials and instruction to build your own bamboo frame from scratch. It also includes a 3 night glamping stay at a nearby coastal lodge as well as designated meals during the workshop. You will also get a first hand glimpse of Kawayan Collective's bamboo treatment process.

Zambales

Zambales Class details: Nov 25-27 and Dec 2-4 (back to back weekend workshops) in collaboration with Pinked Gorilla located in Iba, Zambales. This 3 day workshop covers all materials and instruction to build your own bamboo frame from scratch. It will also include 3 night stay at a local lodge (tbd) and designated meals throughout the workshop. Price PHP35k.

Special workshops

We are able to work around your schedule to provide the most convenient timing for special workshops.

Participants may purchase block periods and choose which days and hours to build their Bamboo Bike:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 4-6 PM or 6-8 PM

  • Weekends are by appointment only

PRIVATE WORKSHOP

Private workshops are for individuals who wish to work one-on-one in the Bike Building process. To work according to one's availability, a participant purchases a thirty hour block period wherein they may choose which days they would be able to come to the Bambu Hub. 

Cost: $1200

SEMI-PRIVATE WORKSHOP

Semi-private workshops are available to two people who want to build their own individual bikes together. Participants purchase a forty hour block period and they can choose which days and hours work best for them.

Cost: $1800
